About BroadwayMania
Founded in 2018, BroadwayMania is an organization of members from all over the world. Our mission is to make theatre more of an international, collective experience where performance artists can engage and collaborate with a wider net of people who share their passion for the arts - from all walks of life, with varying cultures, backgrounds and experiences. There is an entire world of artists outside of your neighborhood theatre community that you may never get to work with otherwise - BroadwayMania strives to create a safe space for those artists to meet and make art together.

“Oh, a life stopped in pose in a world that never goes…”
A picture is worth 1,000 words — what about a song? Can a picture inspire a song or fifteen? In 35mm, each photo creates a unique song, moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. A stunning new multimedia musical which explores a groundbreaking new concept in musical theatre... This intricately woven collection of stories told through song reimagines what the modern American musical can be.
35mm: A Musical Exhibition is written by Ryan Scott Oliver and based on the photography of Matthew Murphy.

Important Notes
This is an uncompensated, full-scale virtual production. It will be pre-recorded from August to October and will be shown through the streaming platform AnywhereSeat on November 20, 21 & 27.
The show will be cast no later than Thursday, Aug 5th.
Requirements
Must be 18 or older to be considered.
You must commit to being available August through November. Although there will be a few fixed rehearsals, you will typically be working at your own pace with strict deadlines. The full schedule will be shared during callbacks.
Strong sight reading knowledge is preferred.
Professional audio equipment (microphone) is preferred.
We use the (free) program BandLab to record audio.
Cast members must have their own light set-up (ring light or another source of lighting).
Cast members must be able to provide Green Screen, which can be purchased on Amazon for approx. $15.
How to Audition
Please record yourself on VIDEO singing the approved audition cut(s). (see Available Roles & Audition Materials below). We ask that you submit an audition video for every role you are interested in.
Play the instrumental track on another device with speakers.
Record with your phone camera in landscape mode. Do not hold your phone - use a tripod or prop it up against something so you don’t have to hold your device while performing.
Record yourself from waist-up.
Make sure you are recording in a quiet place where we can hear your voice clearly.
Record with a plain background to avoid distractions (i.e. sing in front of a solid-colored wall instead of sitting on your couch or in your car)
Upload your video to YouTube (unlisted or public), Instagram or any other media platform and register your audition with the
. (You will be asked to put your audition link in the form). Only submit ONE Google form.

Very important: Your audition will NOT be considered if you don’t follow all instructions.
Available Roles & Audition MaterialsThe role of Man 1/Voice 3 has been cast.
In addition to the 4 principle roles listed below, we are also looking to add 4-6 strong ensemble members (ranging from soprano to bass) to round out the cast. Ensemble members may also have solo features in select songs, which will be decided once the show is cast.
You are welcome to audition for as many roles and/or ensemble vocal parts as you’d like. You can also audition for the ensemble only.
Song samples for each audition cut are provided below so you can hear the original cast’s interpretation. For ensemble auditions, we’ve also provided demos for each vocal part so you know the correct harmonies to sing.
Note: The creators have given permission to be flexible with casting in terms of cast size and gender. Songs may be reassigned as we see fit. Song assignments will be catered towards our cast’s vocal abilities and strengths.
